All of us have our favorite pair of jeans, right? And I guess for most women it is the pair of ‘skinny jeans’ which accentuate their legs and give them a tight look.
However, most of us do not even question the fact that clothes can be harmful to our health, until we experience some negative effect on ourselves.
Therefore, we are here to inform you that the skinny jeans you are wearing might be causing you some health problems, such as nerve and fiber damage in your legs and feet.
The proof for the above given fact is a study which was published in The Journal of Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. It is about a case of a 35 year old woman from Australia, who was taken into hospital for severe weakness in her ankles. The reason behind it, are her skinny jeans.
The study reported the following facts: “On the day prior to presentation, she had been helping a family member move house. This involved many hours of squatting while emptying cupboards. She had been wearing ‘skinny jeans’, and recalled that her jeans had felt increasingly tight and uncomfortable during the day.
Later that evening, while walking home, she noticed bilateral foot drop and foot numbness, which caused her to trip and fall. She spent several hours lying on the ground before she was found.
On examination, her lower legs were markedly oedematous bilaterally, worse on the right side, and her jeans could only be removed by cutting them off. There was bilateral, severe global weakness of ankle and toe movements, somewhat more marked on the right.
Muscle power at the hips and knees was normal, knee jerks were normal and ankle jerks were absent. Sensation was impaired over the lateral aspects of both lower legs, and the dorsum and sole of both feet. Peripheral pulses were normal. The feet were warm and well-perfused.”
So,according to the study based on a single case, we cannot draw a conclusion which will affect everyone, but we have to confirm that the tight skinny jeans will stop your normal blood circulation and put an extra pressure on the reproductive organs.
However, the main purpose of the study is to accentuate how the clothing has changed its prime purpose and instead of being something comfortable to cover our body with, it has become unpleasantly tight which harms our health. Therefore, we all have to be aware of what we wear daily and how it may affect our health.
And finally, we would like to bring awareness not only to the fact that skinny jeans may interfere with your health, but also mention the other clothing pieces which you should avoid.
The latest body shapers, such as “Spanx”, and other tight underwear causes health problems that most of us aren’t even aware of.
Sometimes we should pay more attention to our health than to our appearance and buy ourselves a pair of comfortable jeans while wearing the skinny ones for special occasions. Isn’t that the best decision?
