Vegetables and herbs are important for our body and health so everyday intake is essential. But did you know that you can use the leftovers to regrow fruits, vegetables and herbs for free? It’s very simple to do regrow vegetables and herbs only from the leftovers. Here is a list of 12 vegetables and herbs that you can regrow yourself for free.

  1. Ginger

Soak ginger chunks in water overnight and see what happens. After that you can simply transfer them to a pot and put the pot in a sunny spot. Ginger will grow!

  1. Garlic

Garlic can be regrown just by a single garlic clove. All you have to do is to put the garlic cloves in a glass with water. You have to wait for the shoots to grow little taller and then you can plant the clove into soil, in your garden.

  1. Onion

Onion is also very easy to regrow. The bottom of the onion can be used for this purpose. You simply cut the bottom of the onion and let it dry for some time. When the bottom of the onion is dry enough you plant it into soil. Onions will grow.

  1. Carrots

Regrowing carrots can be very easy since carrot leaves are edible. You can regrow carrots by putting the carrot tops in water and in a well-lit room. Watch how they grow and you will be satisfied with you success.

  1. Basil

Basil stems can be put with the leaf nodes in a glass of water and placed in a sunny spot. This way you can easily have regrown basil. You have to wait for the roots to grow back two inches longer and then simply transfer them into pots.

  1. Lemongrass

Regrowing Lemongrass is easier than you think! Simply place the lemongrass stacks in water. Wait for 2-3 weeks and plant the lemongrass stalks in a pot and place it in a sunny place.

  1. Romaine Lettuce

The bottom of the stump can be used for regrowing romaine lettuce. Simply put them in a glass with half inch of water for few days. If you notice that the water is less than half inch you should refill the water. Once the leaves start growing you can transfer and plant them into soil.       

  1. Green Onion

Green onion is the easiest vegetable to regrow. You simply cut an inch from the root and place it in a glass of water to cover them. Make sure you change the water out once in every couple of days. In one week time you will regrow your green onion.

  1. Celery

Cut off the base of celery stalk but leave about 2 inches. Place the base in a glass or dish of warm water and put it in a sunny spot. It takes a week or so for the celery leaves to start growing. After the leaves have grown you can plant it into a pot with soil.

  1. Cilantro

Just like the basil cilantro can be regrown by placing its stems in a glass of water. When the roots will be grown long enough you can easily plant them and remember to put the pot in a sunny spot.

  1. Bok Choy

Regrowing bok choy is very much like the celery. Cut the base of the bok choy and put it in a bowl of warm water and place the bowl in a sunny spot. You should keep in mind to change the water every day or two. After week or two you can plant it in soil and watch how it grows.

  1. Sweet Potato

It’s very easy to regrow sweet potato. Cut the sweet potato in half and suspend it using toothpick above a jar with shallow water. Within few days roots will appear and this is when you can easily transfer them in soil.
